The Construction and Building Industry are driving the increase and demand for NASC members.

Numerous pro-active main contractors and clients are already insisting that their scaffolding contractor is a NASC member.

Scaffolding firms are finding it harder and harder to gain work on sites without these credentials.

Such developments are not surprising given the strict competence requirements under CDM 2007 for clients and contractors to demonstrate their own competence and be satisfied as to the competence of those engaged.

The risk of an incident like that shown in the video clip below will only be eradicated from the UK by an insistence that only scaffolding companies who are regulated to a strict level of best practice carry out the erection, modification and dismantling of scaffolding.

By selecting a NASC member you are making the right decision because you are making an informed decision. There is no speculation as to the standard and quality of working practice you will receive because you are using a rigorously regulated scaffolding company.

There are now over 200 scaffolding firms who are members of the NASC, this accounts for over 75% of the total UK's scaffolding spend. However NASC members do not have to be large companies, the NASC's smallest member company has only six staff members. Over 25% of all small scaffolding works in the UK are also carried out by NASC members.

There is absolutely no reason why a main contractor should not be stipulating the use of only regulated scaffolding companies.
