  NASC criteria

In order to become a member of the NASC - National Access and Scaffolding Confederation you have to meet all of the following criteria.

Trading

The company has to have been trading for 2 years and be able to produce evidence of trading accounts for this period.

CITB

The applicant must be registered (a) with the CITB, or (b) (if the applicant is incorporated, registered or organised in a jurisdiction other than the United Kingdom) with the body in that jurisdiction which is equivalent to the CITB.

VAT

The company has to be VAT registered or (if the applicant is incorporated, registered or organised in a jurisdiction other than the United Kingdom) be registered under that jurisdiction's equivalent.

Insurance

The company must have adequate insurance levels as recommended by the NASC officers.

Training

The company must be able to produce records of training for the previous 2 years and a plan for the continuation of training.

Employment

The company must be able to show that all management and supervision are directly employed, and this should apply to the majority of all other employees.

Health and Safety

The company must:

i) Provide a satisfactory Health and Safety policy.
ii) Show evidence that it meets all current Health and Safety legislation.
iii) Must agree to complete the NASC's annual accident return.

Security

The company must ensure that all equipment owned or used by a member company is clearly identified as owned or used by it.

NASC members are expected to be actively involved in crime prevention, including reporting all instances of security risks and occurrences to the relevant NASC standing committee.

Meeting Attendance

i) The company must be prepared to send a representative to attend at least one NASC regional meeting per year, preferably more. In the case of overseas companies a UK representative can attend.

ii) The company must be prepared to nominate a representative to participate in NASC standing committees e.g. health and safety, training, and security.

Construction Industry Joint Council (CIJC)

The company must adopt the minimum payment requirements contained within the CIJC.

Code of Conduct

A company must be prepared to abide by the NASC Code of Conduct and the NASC Bye Laws and Rules.
