NASC membership is open to all bona fide Access and Scaffolding companies in the UK. Applicants must have been trading for a minimum of two years. The NASC stresses that the size of the potential member is not important. It is professional competence and integrity that matter.
Technical Involvement The NASC is at the forefront of revising and updating technical specifications for the Access and Scaffolding Industry. NASC are active in the drafting of codes of practice in the UK and participate in the equivalent European technical committees. NASC regularly publish detailed technical guidance notes, including the well established "User Guide to Safe Access Scaffolding" and the "Basic Scaffolding Check Guides." Training High-quality training distinguishes NASC members from the rest of the industry. The NASC work in partnership with the CITB - Construction Industry Training Board and have taken over the management of the Access and Scaffolding NVQ/record scheme. External Liaison Communication is essential in our changing industry and the NASC maintains contact with both scaffolding manufacturers and suppliers. By acting in a concerted manner the NASC can exert pressure to strengthen and co-ordinate a wider industry approach to Access and Scaffolding. Common Contractual Conditions The NASC is a member of the NSCC - National Specialist Contractors Council, which provides a common voice for specialists and sub-contractors, particularly on forms of contract. The Construction Confederation in association with the NASC has produced the 'Form of Contract for Erection, Hire and Dismantling of Scaffolding'. Safety and Technical Safety is a key priority for all our members and the NASC monitor all the statutory obligations and technical factors affecting Access and Scaffolding. Security Co-ordination Our industry is exposed to the dangers of theft, fraud and vandalism, and we co-ordinate our defence operations on a local basis through our regional committees. The NASC work closely with nominated police contact officers. NASC members operate a colour-coding scheme for the identification of scaffolding which helps to deter theft and assist in the recovery of property. NASC will continue to campaign to highlight the threat to our industry and for more effective sentencing of those convicted. Hire and Sales, and Manufacturing Companies that hire and sell Access & Scaffolding equipment are eligible to benefit from our services alongside our contractor members. Code of Conduct All members agree to abide by a strict code of conduct, backed by a disciplinary procedure. They are required to render a service to clients, which meet the highest standards of workmanship, integrity and courtesy. For further information please contact: NASC Tel: 020 7397 8120 |
