DVD Prevents Falls from height

Falls from height retain a high level of focus on construction sites around the UK. The National Access and Scaffolding Confederation (NASC) works closely with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to develop and improve best practice and provide practical but safe guidance to the industry in an endeavour to reduce falls from height.

The NASC have launched a 30-minute training DVD entitled, SG4:05 Preventing Falls in Scaffolding and Falsework. The DVD simply and effectively details how both management and operatives can work to the latest guidance on scaffolding assembly, SG4:05. The aim of the DVD is to highlight the basic requirements and principles of fall prevention and protection that can be adopted by scaffolders and their employers when planning and undertaking scaffolding operations.

This method can be adopted on almost all scaffolds and can reduce the likelihood of a fall to almost zero.

The HSE continues to encourage the scaffolding industry to embrace the SG4:05 guidance but remain concerned at the general levels of compliance in the industry.

The DVD is split into three modules allowing the user to easily identify their area of concern. A full commentary accompanies the footage explaining what to do and what to look out for when erecting or dismantling scaffolds.

The DVD is designed to accompany SG4:You, the user guide to SG4:05,over 40,000 of these booklets are already in circulation throughout the UK,underlining the importance this new safety guidance has in the industry.

The DVD is available to NASC Members priced £49 VAT, and to Non-NASC Members at £99 VAT
